Dental Checkups Keep Teeth Clean
Kids usually don’t love their dentist visits. But you’d be amazed how many kids love theirs here at Highlands Ranch Smiles! We’re friendly, fun, and personable, and we’ve set up our office for them to feel comfortable. Before their appointments, they can play in our kids’ area. During their appointment, we can put on a movie they like to keep them distracted, too. We’ll clean their teeth and check for signs of any problems.
If your kids are cavity prone, we might recommend fluoride and sealants to protect their teeth long after they leave our office. These are quick, inexpensive treatments that we can do at their biannual checkups. Insurance often pays for these treatments as well as their routine preventive care. If you don’t have insurance, our in-house program can cover some of this as well.
We’re happy to give brushing, flossing, and eating tips to you and your kids to help keep their teeth clean and their breath fresh between visits.
Orthodontics Keep Teeth Straight
If you ever had crooked teeth, “buck” teeth, or an overbite or underbite as a kid, you can sympathize with others who have bite alignment issues too. Braces can solve these problems for kids, and we can do it right here without referring you out. This can save money, time, and the hassle of dealing with multiple dentist offices. We also make braces affordable with CareCredit financing, insurance, and our in-house membership plan for families without insurance.
When we say “braces,” we don’t just mean metal braces. Those can work great for many teens. Our office offers a special kind of braces using new technology, which can straighten teeth in as few as 120 days! That’s just four months or so to a more confident smile.
Many teens, especially older ones, still don’t want metal on their teeth, even if it means getting a smile they’re proud of. Invisalign is a great solution for responsible, self-conscious teens. Although your teen will need to commit to wearing these clear aligners for 22 hours a day until treatment is over, they’ll love:
- That their appearance won’t be negatively affected while they’re improving their smile.
- That they can also take out the aligners for eating, which means no embarrassment at getting food stuck in their teeth or braces.
- That removable aligners also means they can eat what their friends eat.
- That they don’t have to have special tools to clean brackets and wires, or worry about these appliances breaking.
- That they won’t have stains on their teeth after completing treatment, a common problem when braces come off.
- That after just 9 to 12 months or so, they’ll get the straight smile they can show off without fear.
Sports Mouthguards Keep Teeth Intact
You may not think about it unless your child plays a sport that requires mouthguards, but sports and athletic injuries are one of the most common causes of damaged and lost teeth among kids. That can go for gymnastics, basketball, horseback riding, and even mountain biking.
We know you don’t want your child to damage their teeth during activities. Our Highlands Ranch children’s dentistry offers custom mouthguards to protect their precious teeth, as well as their jaw, tongue, and oral tissues. You’ll save them time, pain, and embarrassment of a broken tooth or lost tooth that requires emergency dental care.
Metal-Free Tooth Fillings Keep Decay at Bay
More than half of kids will go into middle school with decayed teeth. We don’t want decay to show in your kids’ teeth, but we also think they shouldn’t have to show the work required to fix the decay. Our tooth-colored fillings take care of both problems. They’ll fix decay by preserving more of your child’s tooth, which means less drilling. They’ll also make sure your child’s repaired tooth looks natural, with no silver showing when they smile.
With The Wand, we can painlessly administer local anesthesia, so your kids don’t have to feel afraid of a sting to get their mouth numb. For severely anxious kids or those with special needs, we can even administer a safe form of dental sedation. Talk to our team about this when you call to schedule an appointment.
A Great Smile Goes a Long Way in Life
It’s not an exaggeration to say that a great children’s dentist can impact your child’s success. Research shows that children who don’t suffer from dental issues have higher self-esteem. Kids who are used to going to the dentist all throughout their childhood years – particularly if they have good experiences with pediatric dentistry – are more likely to keep up with their dental care both at home and in a dental office. Because we treat adults too, we can follow your kids’ oral health all the way into adulthood!
