The end of May is filled with graduation ceremonies and parties. Many students will be leaving high school for higher education or the workforce, and graduating college students are now on the hunt for a great job. It’s a time to celebrate, but also to check your smile and oral health.
Our Highland Ranch CO family dental office has a few ideas for ways to congratulate your graduate using cosmetic dentistry. A great smile is important in the workforce. A great smile helps us make a great first impression, and studies have shown that people with a beautiful smile are often assumed to be more intelligent and friendly. Of course, your IQ won’t improve overnight once you have a better smile, but a great smile can help you thrive in personal and professional situations.
Let Us Brighten the Smile By Several Shades
As we age, our smile often begins to fade. It’s best to keep your pearly whites, well, white! Teeth can stain because of food, dark darks like coffee or wine, tobacco use, or even medicines. Dingy teeth can make the smile look unhealthy, even if you have zero clinical issues. If your new graduate is ready to take on the job market but has stained teeth, they could benefit from our simple teeth-whitening services.
Teeth-whitening is one of the oldest forms of cosmetic dentistry, and it’s perfectly safe. We just need to make sure the teeth and gums are healthy before we apply the high-strength whitening agent. In our office, we’re using KöR deep whitening to help you get a whiter, better-looking smile in a matter of weeks. KöR is perhaps the strongest tooth whitening option on the market in that it can improve the brightness of your teeth by up to 16 shades! That’s a transition you’ll never see from over-the-counter whitening treatments.
Cover Smile Flaws in One Visit
Not all of all of us are born with great-looking and functional teeth. Some of us have teeth that are uneven, stained, cracked, broken, or prone to cavities. There is a dental option that help cover up all of these problems: dental veneers.
If your favorite new graduate has always wanted to cover up some of their dental flaws, you can help them out with dental veneers. Our veneers are made from thin shells of porcelain. We simply need to remove a small portion of the tooth’s enamel to fit the veneer. But, in some cases, we can use our ultra-thin Lumineers that require us to restore little or no tooth enamel.
One important note: Veneers are a permanent restoration because we have to remove some of the enamel. So once you have veneers, you’ll need a veneer on that tooth forever.
We’ll Straighten Teeth Without Braces
If your graduate is 18 or older, they probably don’t want to deal with braces. Traditional braces are the gold standard for straightening teeth, especially if you have severe alignment issues. But that’s the thing, not every person has severe alignment or bite issues. In fact, there are many people who have mildly crooked teeth or have seen prior orthodontic work relapse. For those patients, we’re offering Invisalign, a system that uses no metal brackets or wires or fixed appliances or any kind.
With Invisalign, you’ll straighten the teeth with clear plastic, removable aligners in about 12 to 18 months — about half the time of traditional metal braces. Patients receive new aligners about once every two weeks, and we just ask that patients wear their aligners for at least 20 hours a day to keep their treatment on target.
Our patients love Invisalign because it’s subtle. In some cases, people can wear Invisalign without even their closest family members knowing that they are undergoing treatment. It’s the perfect treatment for the young graduate looking to start their new life or join the workforce.
