Replace Missing Teeth With Dental Implants

You shouldn’t have to hide your smile. Whether you’re constantly covering missing teeth or tired of fussing with dentures, dental implants are a solution worth considering.

At Highlands Ranch Smiles we can help you get a brighter, straighter smile in no time. Dr. Michelle Haynes, Dr. Courtney McKeever, and the rest of our experienced and friendly staff in Highlands Ranch, CO can help you decide if dental implants are right for you.

In the meantime, here’s just about anything you could possibly want to know about dental implants.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants replace the roots of teeth you have lost. They work as anchors to hold fixed or removable teeth in place.

Dental implants are a great option for patients who want to replace missing teeth, but don’t want to hassle with bridges or removable dentures. Dental implants give you the option of improving the appearance and the function of your smile by giving you a brand new set of teeth that look and work just like the real thing.

The benefits of getting dental implants include:

  • A smile you’ll be proud to show off.
  • The ability to speak clearer without slippery dentures.
  • Being able to eat your favorite foods.
  • More self-esteem.
  • Better oral health.
  • Durability and dependability.
  • Convenience: no need to remove anything to eat or clean your mouth.

Are Dental Implants Right For You?

How can you know if dental implants are right for you? Come and see us. A dental examination and consultation in our office will allow us to determine if you’re a good candidate for dental implants.

At Highlands Ranch Smiles, we offer the following types of implants:

  • Single-tooth implants
  • Mini implants
    • Mini implants work well in tight spaces or for patients who have a lot of bone loss.
  • All-on-4 and All-on-6 full-mouth implants
    • A great option for patients who are missing all their teeth. These implants are permanent and look just like natural teeth.
  • Implant-supported dentures
    • A great way to hold your dentures in place so they don’t move around.

Generally, if you’re healthy enough to get a tooth pulled or undergo oral surgery, you are healthy enough to be considered for a dental implant.

However, it’s important to have healthy gums and enough bone to hold the implant in place. You also have to make a commitment to continuing to care for your teeth and gums. Dental implants are cared for just like regular teeth. That means brushing at least twice a day and flossing daily.

If you’re a heavy smoker or suffer from diabetes or heart disease, dental implants may not be right for you. During your consultation with our experienced staff, we will be able to give you a better idea of whether your mouth can support dental implants.

Getting Dental Implants: What To Expect

To be sure your mouth can support dental implants, we first have to take a closer look at your mouth and jaw to see if you have enough bone. If you don’t have enough bone, we might recommend bone grafting or another type of dental implant.

If you do have enough bone for the procedure, the implant is surgically placed into the bone. We then recommend a period of time for your mouth to heal while the implants fuse with your bone. Then we can attach your replacement teeth to the implants.

Because of local anesthesia and dental sedation, there is very little discomfort involved in the procedure. Any discomfort you experience during the healing process can be treated with over-the-counter pain medications like Tylenol.

We aim to make our patients as comfortable as possible, so if you’re nervous or experiencing some anxiety, don’t hesitate to let us know. We can help by offering one of several options for relieving dental anxiety.
